About Broughton Community Church
Our Church Family
If you want an informal, friendly, Bible-based church, with a flavour of the Church of England, then Broughton Community Church is for you!
Broughton is a neighbourhood in Aylesbury, between the Grand Union Canal and the Tring Road. Our church meets every Sunday in Broughton Junior School (on Broughton Avenue, opposite the Parton Road shops). Follow this link to a Map.
Opened in 1989 as a daughter church of Holy Trinity, Walton; Broughton Community Church was formed from a desire by the local people to have their own church. Hence the congregation meet in the local junior school, having outgrown the primary school.
In 2009 the Church Commissioners passed a Pastoral Measure making Broughton a Church of England parish in its own right.
Minister
Rev'd. Dr. Mike Butterworth is our Priest-in-Charge. Until 2006 Mike was Principal of the St Albans and Oxford Ministry Course. He is also Director of Interactive Christian Extension Studies (ICES) which is based in St Albans.

Groups
Broughton has a range of 'home groups' which meet usually on a weekly basis to study the Bible and related books in more depth than is possible on the regular services.
There are four that meet in the evenings (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday x2) and one that meets on Tuesday morning. In addition to this several people meet in twos and threes for prayer.
Newcomers are always welcome to any of the homegroups so if you are interested about joining one speak to the leaders about which one would suit you best.
We have run a Family Time group for those who wish to explore the issue of parenting skills.
Pastoral Care
There are a number of people who are prepared to visit anyone who is in need of someone to talk and pray with them.
Mike Butterworth co-ordinates this work so ring Mike and he will put you in touch with someone who is willing to help.
